Hello, everyone!

Back again for another lesson to follow up our previous lesson on creating pages to be used for menus on your store.

This lesson teaches you how to create the menus from your pages.

Online Store, Navigation

Step 1) Go to your Admin Dashboard

Click on Online Store

Click on Navigation

You will see a Main Menu and a Footer Menu. Your Main Menu goes across the top of the page. Your Footer goes at the bottom of the page.

We're going to install some very standard menus for now, including the ones that will come from the pages you created.

In a later lesson, we'll create menus based on your products so that visitors can shop.

In this view, you see the "Home" link you created in the last lesson. It's kind of lonely, so we're going to give it some friends.

Click Add Menu Item, Type Search in first box, Click on Search in popup box, Click Add

Step 2) Click "Add Menu Item"

Type the word "Search" in the first box you see.

Tab to the next box and a popup box comes up. Click on Search in that box.

Click on "Add" button.

click on "Add Menu Item", Type Search, click on Search in Popup box, click Add

Choose Search from the popup box

Step 3) Click on "Add Menu Item" again.

Type "About Us" in the title for the menu

Type "About Us" in the first box

Tab to next box

Click on Pages, then About Us

Click on Pages when the popup comes up. Choose "About Us" page you created before.

Click on "Add" button. Click on the About Us page you created before

Tip: As you are creating these menus, open another tab in your browser and look at your home page at your domain address to see how the menus appear. This will help you understand what your doing here.

Step 4) Click on "Add Menu Item" again.

Click Add Menu Item, Type "Contact Us", click on Pages, Click on "Contact Us"

Type "Contact Us" in the title box for the menu

Click on "Pages" in the popup box like you did with the About Us page. Click on "Contact Us" from the list.

Click on "Add" button

This gives us a very basic Main Menu at the top of our pages for now. We'll add more soon.

We now have Element 4 I talked about when I was describing a Million Dollar Store in a previous lesson. A way for your customers to search your store, now that they have a Search link in the menu.

Now we'll build a very basic Footer Menu to go at the bottom of every page.

Step 5) Footer Menu (bottom of every page)

Click on Navigation Link

Click on the Navigation link (left side of the page)

Look for the Footer Menu. There may be some items in it. Add all the items you added to the Main Menu but this time add them to the Footer Menu.

Add these like you did before:

Home

Search

About Us

Contact Us

Now we'll add some links to your footer menu that you won't have on the Main Menu. The pages we created in the previous lesson: Privacy Policy, Refunds & Returns, and the Terms of Service pages will be given menu links in the footer menu.

Click on the Footer Menu link under Navigation

Click on Add Menu Item

Click Add Menu Item, Refunds and Returns, Click on Pages, click on Refunds and Returns

Enter Refunds & Returns in the title box

Tab to the next box

Click on Pages

click on Refunds & Returns

Click on Refunds & Returns

Click "Add" button

Click on Add Menu Item again.

Type "Privacy Policy" in the title box

Click on Pages

Click on Privacy Policy

Click Add button

Click Add Menu Item

Type Terms of Service in the title

Click on Pages

Click on Terms of Service

Click on Add button

Click Add Menu Item, Enter Terms of Service, Click Pages, click on Terms of Service, Click Add

You now have two very basic menus on the top and bottom of your store. In the next lesson, we'll look more at the theme design of your store. Soon, we'll set you up for receiving payments and add products and collections so you can start selling.

See you soon!
Lynne
